eSIM support varies by exact model, region, carrier, and software version.

Check for eSIM support

On iPhone, look for Add eSIM under Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data. On Android, look for Add eSIM or Download SIM under SIM settings. Availability can vary even among phones with the same model name.

Check carrier lock

Your device must be unlocked for a travel eSIM from another provider. On iPhone, check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock; No SIM restrictions usually indicates an unlocked phone. For Android, contact your carrier if unsure.

Before buying

Confirm both device compatibility and destination coverage on the final plan listing. An EID in the phone's settings can help indicate eSIM hardware, but it does not guarantee that every plan will work.
